Butterfly
Delicate butterflies rendered in eggshell and gold, appearing to float on deep lacquer.
The wings require extreme precision — each wing segment is individually inlaid, with 200+ pieces per butterfly. Over 120 hours of painstaking work. 30+ layers of lacquer create a three-dimensional illusion where the wings seem to lift from the surface.
A supreme technical achievement representing transformation and rebirth. Similar works by Japanese maki-e masters sell at auction for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Symbolism
The butterfly is the ultimate symbol of metamorphosis — caterpillar becomes winged being, death becomes rebirth. The fragile eggshell wings capture the beauty of transformation, while gold reveals the divine nature within.
